Abstract

A Microgrid (MG) is a useful concept for integrating renewable resources, in which a local generation source and an Energy Storage System (ESS) are coordinated to meet customer demand in any situation. Furthermore, the Energy Management System (EMS) is being investigated in order to allocate optimally the power output of the Distributed Generator (DG) units, economically satisfy the Load Demand (LD), properly regulate the frequency and voltage of the MG systems, and automatically ensure a smooth transition between grid connected (GC) and islanded operation modes. This paper deals with different energy management techniques used in microgrid according to their usage. EM techniques deals with systematic way of utilization of each Distributed energy resource (DER) along with renewable resources (RER) according to their requirements (either critical or non-critical loads) during uncertainty.
