    Abstract

Work undertaken introduces environmentally safe inhibitor to attenuate acid corrosion of Al-CM. Studies were done by PDP and EIS techniques. Conditions were optimized to get maximum inhibition efficiency. Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were calculated and discussed in detail. SEM, EDX, AFM, XRD and FT-IR techniques were adopted for surface morphology studies. Inulin showed maximum inhibition efficiency of 90% at 303. K. It acted as mixed type of inhibitor, underwent physisorption and followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The remarkable surface smoothness of Al-CM was achieved due to adsorption on inhibitor. The work is a contribution to corrosion chemistry using eco-friendly inhibitor.
