Abstract
We have made a detailed study of the roles played by densities and the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction, when used in the folding model for heavy-ion scattering. The information, gained thereby, leads to a formula for the real part of the potential acting between the interacting nuclei. The possibility of deducing the rms radii of matter distributions is discussed.
