Evaluation and comparison of the shear bond strength of porcelain repair system for fractured metal-ceramic prosthesis using Ni-Cr and Co-Cr alloys: An in-vitro study

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare the shear bond strength of porcelain repair system using Ni-Cr and Co-Cr alloys. Method: Thirty discs of base metal alloy were fabricated and divided into 5 subgroups Control,,Roughened with the diamond point, Air abrasion/ Sandblasting Hydrofluoric acid treatment,Phosphoric acid treatment. Shear bond strength testing and mode of failure was evaluated using ANOVA and Post Hoc Tukey Test, Results: The least bond strength was seen in the control group and the highest in Air abrasion followed by hydrofluoric acid. Conclusion: Use pf intraoral porcelain repair may be considered as the viable and economical treatment option,.
