Abstract

An open square is a dissemination of urban space. It is perceived as one of the key segments of urban spaces that describe the place's sense and character. This paper aims to investigate the different spatial attributes in urban settings that improve the association of users in the open squares. The study follows a quantitative strategy as a perception-bolstered fundamental research tool. This pilot study as respondents to urban space had taken sample size of 105 discretionary users at these public squares. To find the structured part of social action, cross-sectional technique of study and cohort method is applied, and visual recognition is applied for perception. The study discovers that in Indian setting, there are few components that influence the activities of the client in urban space. These parts are components of landscape, structures such as shelter and shading, the use and need of workplaces made open by open enterprise, support, and disclosure. This investigation derives an impression of the users’ perception in public square in Indian context.
