Abstract

Finite element method (FEM) which considers the interaction between fluid and structure at the interface is proposed to simulate the tank isolated with friction pendulum system (FPS). Through the analysis, it is shown that the non linear behavior due to series of sliding and non-sliding phases of isolated liquid storage tank considering interaction between fluid and structure can be simulated using the proposed FEM of analysis. Results of the analysis also show that FEM considering fluid-structure interaction may be more appropriate to analyze the liquid storage tank isolated with FPS.
