Abstract
A wall supporting fluid and subjected to a dynamic pressure due to suddenly applied rectangular pulse and an earthquake load due to El centro ground acceleration is analysed by using finite element method (FEM) considering the interaction between fluid and structure. The effects of elastic modulus and mass density of the material of wall on displacement of structure and dynamic pressure in fluid are studied. It is concluded from the study that the elastic modulus and mass density of the material of wall considerably affects the response of the fluid and wall.
