Abstract

There has been a rapid rise in the use of technology for rehabilitation. Technology provides the opportunity to deliver intensive rehabilitation that is difficult to achieve by human effort. Technology has been extensively deployed in the rehabilitation of patients worldwide. This chapter discusses the technologies used in the rehabilitation of adults with neurological conditions, highlighting core concepts, rationale, advantages and disadvantages, and applications of the commonly used gadgets and technologies in different neurological conditions. This chapter includes details on technologies that have proven benefits and evidence for practice in rehabilitation, including virtual reality, augmented reality, exergames, robotics, body weight support treadmill training, and telerehabilitation.
