    Abstract

Abstract—: The work highlights the results of application of a bio polymer glycogen as a green inhibitor for the corrosion control of 6061Al-15%(V)SiC(P) composite material in 3.5% NaCl medium. The corrosion rate measurements were done by electrochemical methods such as potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were calculated and discussed in detail. Surface characterization of the studied composite material was performed before and after the addition of glycogen using scanning electron microscopy energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The proposed work is a contribution to the field of corrosion chemistry using an eco-friendly green inhibitor biopolymer glycogen, which enables the conservation of an important engineering material 6061Al-15%(V)SiC(P).
