    Abstract

Groundwater is one of the most important sources of domestic, commercial, and agricultural supply. According to the National Groundwater Management Improvement Program (NGMIP), seven states namely Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh have some of India’s most highly developed, but most heavily exploited groundwater areas.
