Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

    Abstract

Online banking, often known as internet banking or e-banking, is used to conduct electronic transactions. Customers can Conduct financial transactions by using this approach via a bank’s website. The security of customer information is very important, but there is little consistency to the various approaches adopted. Attacks involving social engineering have increased in India’s digital era. These assaults utilise a user-friendly strategy to psychologically manipulate people or groups to achieve a hacker’s goals. Social engineering can be used for purposes such as stealing confidential information from a business or taking advantage of national security issues. This is particularly important in situations when someone’s identification credentials have been stolen or where credit card and bank account information has been compromised. This fraud is very difficult to measure, and fraudsters can easily scale their scams, launching 1,000 attempts before they even have breakfast. Many customers feel embarrassed to admit that they were deceived and are reluctant to report the incident to their bank or law enforcement. However, by understanding how it works and taking basic precautions, people will be far less likely to fall victim to social engineering.
