N2 - Spectrum sensing is the preliminary and the most important step for cognitive radio. In this paper Energy detection algorithm is designed and implemented and its performance metric is evaluated under AWGN and Rayleigh fading channel conditions. The simulation results are tabulated which provides the better understanding of the effect on the system by channel parameters. The result shows that the performance degrades under multipath fading environment. Also, the Gaussian approximation is taken into account by applying central limit theorem, which inherently denotes the real world condition when the signal samples are more in number.
