Abstract

Foreign body (FB) in the external ear is quite commonly encountered in the otolaryngological practice, but that occurring in the middle ear is rare. Moreover, a history of a foreign body entry into the ear is usually obtained. The authors, in this retrospective study, share their experience in 8 cases of foreign body of the middle ear, found as a surprise, incidentally during surgery for otitis media. The role of middle ear disease as an etiological factor for foreign body in the ear has been highlighted.
