Abstract

Abstracts: For experiments aimed at the study of the spontaneous fission of transfermium nuclei, improvements in the focal-plane detector system of the VASSILISSA recoil separator have been made. A neutron detector consisting of 54 3He-filled counters has been mounted around the focal-plane detector chamber. A description of the detection system and the results of experiments aimed at investigating the neutron multiplicity of neutron-deficient isotopes of 252No and 244,246Fm are presented.
