Abstract
As environmental concerns grow and the need for sustainable development intensifies, integrating green technologies and sustainable infrastructure in the event management sector has become crucial. This chapter explores the research problem of the limited application and effectiveness of green technologies in managing Malaysian festivals. It draws from the theoretical perspective of sustainable development to examine how green technologies can be utilized to enhance the sustainability of event infrastructure, focusing on energy efficiency, waste management, and eco-friendly transportation. The research aims to fill the gap in the literature regarding the practical implementation of these technologies within Malaysian festivals. The significance of this study lies in its potential to provide a blueprint for sustainable festival management, showcasing the environmental, economic, and social benefits of adopting green practices. Through a comprehensive review of existing policies, case studies, and field data, this chapter evaluates the current state of green technology integration in Malaysian festivals. The findings are expected to offer actionable insights and recommendations for event organizers, policymakers, and stakeholders, promoting a shift towards more sustainable festival practices. Ultimately, this study underscores the critical role of green technologies in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) and enhancing the overall quality and impact of festivals in Malaysia. This chapter aims to inspire future innovations and advancements in sustainable festival management by highlighting successful implementations and addressing the challenges and barriers.
