Abstract
Four cases of lumbar neurofibromas are presented. The paper stresses the difficulty in distinguishing the symptoms produced by a neurofibroma and lumbar disc disease. It has been shown that early investigations in patients with severe prolonged backache not responding to conservative management is justified both from the point of view of establishing a correct diagnosis and proper management of these cases.
