Abstract
Urbanization affects the environment through the strain of restricted resources to meet the demands of the ever-growing population leading to difficulty in management of available resources. This paper aims to understand the impact of urbanisation on land use land cover (LULC) changes due to increasing population, growing economy and climate change in Hyderabad. The results show that rapid increase in built-up at the cost of vegetation and barren. The availability of barren land tends to decrease while a varying trend is observed in the case of vegetation area and availability of water. With the relationship between climate, economy and population, we develop a model to estimate the relationship with urbanization and vegetation of this urban city. Multiple regression analysis reveals that the major factor causing these LULC changes are associated with population, GDP and rainfall.
