This chapter delves into the potential impact of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, including its influence on drug development, personalized medicine, patient care, and diagnostics. It also addresses ethical implications, regulatory challenges, privacy concerns, and the need for a robust governance framework. The chapter discusses governance models, regulatory bodies, industry standards, ethical considerations, fairness and equity in AI applications, and current laws and regulations governing AI in healthcare. It concludes by offering insights into emerging trends, future challenges, and actionable recommendations for responsibly integrating generative AI into healthcare.
