Abstract
Generally, a solar absorber plate is a flat surface underneath which absorber tubes are integrated. In the present work a new design is proposed for the absorber plate that is modified with periodic convex geometry so as to increase the surface area for heat absorption. It is found from the analysis that both the absorber plate temperature and the water temperature in the absorber tube show marked improvement for the case of corrugated absorber plate geometry. It is also observed that a lower mass flow rate through the absorber tube provides for a relatively larger temperature rise due to increased heat transfer area for heat absorption. It is inferred that the water temperature in the absorber tube show a significant rise all along the length of the absorber tube for the case of corrugated plate demonstrating the efficacy of the modified geometry of the absorber plate.
