Optimal spectral slot width assignment in flexible grid elastic optical network

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

In the dynamic flexible grid Elastic optical network, optical frequency spectrum is divided into narrow width slots. Any sequence of slots can be combined to form a channel according to the requirement. In this paper we present the optimum slot width for efficient and effective utilization of spectrum resources with minimum spectral wastage along with the derivation of empirical formula for calculation of blocking probability at various slot width. The carried traffic is simulated on 14 node 21 link NSFNET network.
