Abstract

Purpose: Publications are an effective way of disseminating scientific evidence and making findings accessible to the public. Effective skill in writing can make researchers more efficient in publishing articles in high-quality journals. However, implementing appropriate training programs in scientific writing should be a major focus, and many researchers can benefit from it. This review article explores various methods to boost research publications among researchers, highlighting published literature and strategies for implementation in universities and colleges worldwide to help faculty meet publication targets. Method: An extensive literature search was conducted using various databases such as PubMed, ProQuest, and CINAHL for articles published in scientific journals from 2002 to 2022 using different keywor. Only articles published in English and available as full text were screened and included in this review. 16 articles were reviewed for the final analysis. Results: Five categories of strategies were identified from the literature between 2002 and 2022, which included writing workshops, structured writing courses, writing coach programs, writing support groups, mentored writing retreats, and writer’s block programs. These strategies were found to be effective in enhancing the publication process and increasing research productivity for health researchers. This article will assist nurse administrators in creating training courses for nurse researchers, enabling them to publish their findings in high-quality journals. Conclusion: A combination of different approaches, such as workshops and short-term writing courses, mentoring, coaching, and retreats, have a positive impact in increasing the writing productivity of novice researchers. In this review, most of the interventions focused on participants’ involvement and continuous support from the experienced researchers, especially mentoring coaching and support group programs.
