Abstract

In this paper, a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis has been carried out to study the effect of annular fins for oil flow in a horizontal tube. The design parameters are fin height and fin spacing under forced convection conditions and flow is taken as laminar flow. The number of fins used is six, fin height is taken as 40mm and 60 mm and fin spacing as 15mm, 16mm and 17mm. From the analysis it is found that heat transfer increases with spacing to height ratio(S/H) and reaches a maximum at S/H=0. 26. Thermo physical properties such as thermal conductivity and specific heat are assumed to be constant.
