Abstract

One of the vital components of any communication system is Channel Coding. These Coding schemes should be of low complexity providing high performance. This paper discusses the five Forward Error Correcting Codes which are used in a communication system, namely, Linear Block Codes, Convolutional Codes, Reed-Solomon Codes, Turbo Codes, and Polar Codes. The simulation is carried out for the codes and the Bit Error Rate performance is analyzed. The results show that the Forward Error Correcting Codes will improve the performance of the system when compared with uncoded system in terms of gain achieved.
