N2 - The technique of cooperative relaying has emerged as a promising solution to bolster wireless communication systems' performance and coverage. The introduction of Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS) has further expanded the possibilities of improving wireless system performance. This research paper aims to present a comprehensive analysis and comparison of the performance between traditional cooperative relaying and IRS-assisted cooperative relaying. Mathematical models are used to accurately evaluate key performance metrics such as throughput and outage. The obtained performance data is analyzed, and a thorough comparative analysis is performed. The results demonstrate the benefits and limitations of each approach and shed light on the superiority of IRS-assisted cooperative relaying in terms of outage probability and throughput. This research contributes to the understanding of cooperative relaying techniques and establishes the advantages of IRS in wireless communication systems. The findings have significant implications for the engineering and enhancement of future wireless networks, paving the way for the adoption of IRS technology in practical deployments.
