Pharmacognostic study of various species of cymbopogon of south Canara, India

Abstract

Aim of the present investigation is to carry out the macroscopy, microscopy, powder analysis, quantitative microscopy and physicochemical characteristics of three different species of Cymbopogon of South canara and they are Cymbopogon citratus, Cymbopogon flexuosus and Cymbopogon nardus. Anatomical studies showed isobilateral nature of Cymbopogon leaves. Powder study revealed presence of epidermal cells with stomata, fibres and vessels. Stomatal index and Physicochemical characters were also reported in the present study.
