Abstract
During the transition from dental school to dental clinic, it is important for dentists to make a subtle shift from emphasizing pharmacokinetics to appreciating pharmacodynamics. The authors believe that this change in philosophy will occur only when the clinicians of tomorrow are motivated in dental school to adopt pharmacovigilance in their clinical practices. Dentists must understand how reporting ADRs benefits the practice of dentistry as a whole. Early and more thorough reporting of ADRs will directly influence the speed with which problematic drugs can be withdrawn from the market. directly affecting the lives of patients who otherwise would have used these drugs.
