Abstract

Lean manufacturing has been one of the important practices in manufacturing industries. This paper suggests an agenda of how to achieve lean manufacturing system in an Automotive Electronic component manufacturing plant. It also explains the various dynamics and changes that will be involved while optimising the plant layout, also how the production levels are affected with respect to the facility layout change in the plant. The paper also stresses the importance of the Technical cleanliness of the plant which has an adverse effect on the quality of the products that are manufactured in the plant. A system dynamics modelling and simulation tool is used for the construction of the model and analysis of the dynamic behaviour in the effected departments of the plant, due to the change in the facility layout and also the implementation the technical cleanliness methods. The outcomes of the analysis are expected to show the variation in the quality levels, space occupancy, human knowledge levels, financial changes, inventory levels, technical cleanliness of the company.
