Predictive biomarkers: guiding personalized cancer therapies

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Recently, tailored drugs that seek to enhance advantages while limiting negative consequences have transformed the face of treatment for cancer. Predictive indications, which provide vital information about the differing effects of various cancer therapies on certain individuals, are a major component of the new method. This chapter analyzes the important function that biomarkers with statistical significance play in influencing personalized cancer therapy. The fundamental ideas of predictive biomarkers, including their molecular and genetic foundations, are covered in detail in the first section of the chapter. This chapter’s second section analyzes recent innovations like liquid biopsy and genome sequencing that have fundamentally altered the study of and evaluation of prognostic biomarkers.
