Probabilistic Analysis of Solar-Wind Gravity Energy Storage for Off-Grid Communities

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

Energy storage systems are essential parts of autonomous hybrid energy systems due to stochastic nature of renewable resources. In this paper, the new Gravity energy storage (GES) technology using suspended weight is incorporated into a standalone solar-wind based hybrid power system. Meteorological data of Gujarat (India) were taken into account for the simulation work. This paper presents mathematical modeling of renewable energy resources, generating units, and GES. This work focuses on the probabilistic analytical approach for reliability evaluation of standalone hybrid power system. To evaluate the degree of reliability, the reliability indicator Expected energy not served (EENS) and Loss of energy probability (LOEP) are evaluated.
