Abstract

This paper presents a quantitative measurement technique of 'anulom vilom' type pranayam by detecting a color patch in the video. A system is developed which can capture the video with the help of a camera during pranayam and analyzes the video to display the quantitative results of pranayam as message and graph. The message display the frequency of pranayam done and the graph shows the period of each cycle. The whole system is developed on LabVIEW platform. First the LVPROJ will capture the video using a good quality webcam or LabVIEW compatible camera like an IEEE 1394, GigE Vision, or DirectShow-compatible USB camera. Video is analyzed to detect patch by color detection method. Once the processing will be complete the person can see the result in the form of message and graph. The results shown are essential to make a person understand the lacuna in his pranayam and necessary action can be taken.
