Abstract

The novel drug delivery system involves embedding a drug inside a nano drug carrier and then administering this system to the patient, which does not show negative effects on other parts of the body. Allopathic drugs such as Doxorubicin, 5-Fluorouracil, and Oxaliplatin have been used extensively in the treatment of breast cancer, colon cancer, cervical cancer, etc. The drug and a suitable polymer blend are electrospun to obtain drug-loaded nanofibers. Nanofibers loaded with multiple drugs are used to treat tumors as the use of a single drug displays drug toxicity at higher doses. The present review describes the potency of allopathic drugs loaded into suitable polymers via electrospinning technique for the treatment of cancer-causing tumors.
