Abstract
Addressing the critical challenge of global air pollution, which significantly impacts public health and the environment, this research presents a thorough examination of Internet of Things technology's transformative impact on air quality monitoring and control. Through an extensive review, this paper explores the advancement and application of IoT-based systems, emphasizing their role in enabling real-time, precise air quality assessment across various sectors, including urban, industrial, and agricultural environments. By integrating innovative technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain, alongside the deployment of mobile IoT solutions and sector-specific applications, the research showcases the potential for comprehensive, dynamic environmental monitoring. The discussion includes the development of IoT platforms tailored for air quality assessment and strategies for improving air quality, focusing on indoor spaces, industrial emissions, and efficient waste management. The paper also outlines the importance of leveraging data for policy development, increasing public engagement, and creating smarter infrastructure to combat air pollution. Looking ahead, the study suggests combining satellite and drone technology with terrestrial monitoring to refine air quality management. This work proposes a new approach to tackling air pollution through technology, emphasizing sustainable environmental practices and healthier communities.
