Abstract

Tendon preservation stapedotomy with or without KTP-532 laser has been performed on 25 cases from November 1998 to February 2000. A study of the symptoms, demographic profile, audiological impairment, surgical treatment and the resultant hearing improvement after 3 weeks and 6 weeks was done. KTP-532 laser assisted crurotomy and stapedotomy was found to be easier than the conventional method. Insertion of the prosthesis was also found to be much easier because of tendon preservation.
