Abstract
The role of the ρ-meson coupling constant gρ in relativistic mean field theory is investigated. It is observed that a slight variation in the adopted value of gρ gives a better agreement with the experimental binding energy. None of the properties included in the fitting procedure for fixing the Lagrangian parameters are affected by this fine tuning of the parameter gρ except the asymmetry energy which is altered by less than 0.4%.
