Abstract

OBJECTIVES Bimaxillary protrusion is a common aesthetic concern driving patients for orthodontic therapy. However, its management becomes significantly more complex when combined with ectopic eruption and compromised periodontium. This case report ex plores the potential for orthodontic treatment to achieve functional and aesthetic rehabilitation in such chal lenging cases, potentially highlight ing the importance of interdisciplin ary synergy between orthodontics and periodontics. 154 2025;93(2):154-161 MATERIAL AND METHODS A 21‐year‐old male patient with significant habit history was treat ed for bimaxillary protrusion asso ciated with canine ectopia, muti lated dentition, chronic irrevers ible pulpitis and localized peri odontitis. RESULTS Employing modified orthodontic biomechanics in conjunction with periodontal therapy to address mucogingival deficiencies, this holistic approach resulted in a CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE multifaceted improvement for the patient, enhancing facial profile, corrected protrusion, resolution of the ectopic eruption, estab lishment of occlusion and peri odontal stability. CONCLUSIONS This case report highlights the critical role of comprehensive di agnosis to identify coexisting problems and formulate a treat ment plan tailored to the patient’s specific needs for optimal out comes. Orthodontic-periodontal integra tion enhances aesthetics, occlusal stability, and periodontal health in complex cases through tailored multidisciplinary care.
