    Abstract

In the interconnected power systems, the renewable based hydro power generating plants are generally used as one of the effective renewable energy source due to its capability of high response time against the variable loading conditions in comparison with other renewable based energy sources. In this presented work, the hydro power plant (HPP) system of order six is approximated to reduced-order (RO) model of order three with the help of simple multi-attribute rating technique (SMART) based systematic weight ascertainment approach employing multi-point matching method. The mathematically modeled sixth order higher-order (HO) HPP system is matched around multi-points to achieve the better response of RO model with respect to HO HPP system. The errors between expansion parameters obtained in terms of coefficients of HO HPP system and its RO model are minimized around selected multi-points, further. For the error minimization, objective function is framed. The objective function is then converted in the form of weighted objective function by employing SMART based weight determination approach. The weighted objective function is then minimized with the help of brown-bear optimization algorithm. In this minimization, the steady-state constraint and Hurwitz stability criterion are also satisfied for comparatively better and stable RO model with zero steady-state error. In the support of the ascertained RO model of order three for sixth order HO HPP system, responses by including step, Bode, and impulse, and tabular comparisons of specifications of time domain values are also provided in inclusion with error response and performance error values.
