Abstract

Swarna is one of the important west flowing rivers of Karnataka and the river basin is a major source of agricultural land in Udupi. Paddy is the main crop raised by 75% of the cultivated area in kharif season. Excessive fertilisation is a major concern in the agricultural fields nowadays. Hence, a study was conducted to analyse the soil fertility in terms of NPK of agricultural soils and paddy crops of Swarna river basin in Udupi. The studied soils were under paddy cultivation. The soil samples were analysed by using Flame Photometer, Spectrophotometer and titration methods. The crop samples were initially digested and later analysed using the same methods.
