Abstract

The identification of mutilated bodies skeletal and fragmentary remains is a challenging task for the forensic expert. Accurate identification gives a firm foundation to the investigating agencies for further investigations and it is essential for the establishment of corpus delicti in a case of homicide. This review is an attempt to discuss the significance of foot measurements in identification of amputated or dismembered remains. Techniques in forensic anthropology are still most commonly employed for identification of human remains and morphometric analysis of the foot can be an excellent tool in identification of mulilated or amputated remains.
