    Abstract

A systematic study on structural, electrical, magnetic and thermoelectric properties of bulk samples of Gd1-xSrxMnO3, synthesized by solid state reaction, is carried out in this communication. All the samples are in single phase with no detectable impurities. All the samples exhibit insulating behavior and the results indicate that high temperature electrical resistivity can be explained using small polaron hopping (SPH) model, whereas variable hopping model (VRH) model is valid in the low temperature regime. The magnetization results show that large irreversible magnetization is observed at low temperatures. The thermoelectric power measurement demonstrates that these samples exhibit colossal thermoelectric power.
