Abstract

Death due to the burns amongst the women is most usual in India. Sixty fatal cases of burns trauma, alleged to be of accidental origin, referred for Medicolegal Autopsy to the Department of Forensic medicine, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, which were analysed statistically revealed the dreadful fact that these cases are mostly deliberate, giving credence to the concept of 'Dowry Death'.
