Abstract
One major challenge facing the civil engineering community is to execute projects in harmony with nature using the concept of sustainable development. This calls for use of high performance, environment-friendly and economical construction materials. In this study, the fresh and hardened properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) using recycled concrete aggregate as both coarse and fine aggregates were evaluated. M25 grade concrete mixes were prepared using recycled coarse aggregate (100%), natural and recycled fine aggregate in four combinations. All the mixes show higher compressive strength as compared with control concrete. All the mixes achieve their target strength at 28 days and increase in weight indicating higher sulphate resistance.
