Abstract

Eu3+ + Sm3+ and Eu3+ + Nd3+ co-doped lead fluoroborate glasses were synthesized through melt-quench technique. The densities, Tg and hardness factors proved that these glasses are structurally compact and are stable upto ∼200 °C. PTBES and PTBEN glasses showed reddish and greenish emission respectively, both before and after γ rays and electron beam irradiation with 150 kGy dose. These glasses could be proposed as a potential solid state color luminescent material and as radiation sensors/shielders.
