Abstract

The current study investigates the capability of lantana camara to remove cobalt, nickel, cadmium and lead from multicomponent mixture. The material was treated with sulphuric acid to improve the adsorption properties and also pore volume, surface area and particle size. The FTIR and SEM analysis were performed to investigate the surface characteristics. The single component data for all the four components were verified by isotherm models. It was found that the Langmuir model was fitting better with the isotherm data. The interaction effect for all the metals were studied in binary, ternary and quaternary solution mode. It was found that the cobalt and nickel exhibited synergistic type of behavior, cadmium shows antagonism while lead shows non-interaction with the other components.
