Abstract
A retrospective study of 113 patients was done to study presentation & visual outcome of penetrating ocular injuries. Visual acuity, wound size, uveal tissue prolapse, hyphema, traumatic cataract at presentation, presence of Intra ocular foreign body (IOFB), zone of injury, time elapse of repair were correlated with final visual acuity at 4 months of follow up. 88.8% patients with visual acuity of > 6/12 at presentation, 24.65% patients with corneal injury, 50% patients with small wound size (<3mm), absence of IOFB, 35.2% patients who had early repair (<24hrs) were found to have better final visual acuity (>6/ 12). Hyphema, uveal tissue prolapse, traumatic cataract did not affect final visual acuity significantly.
