Abstract
Iron deficiency anemia secondary to gastrointestinal bleeding is very common in the elderly, and has to be managed with utmost care. Gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) is a rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding. Although rare, it can be quite dramatic in its presentation and prognosis. The authors report a case of GAVE presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleed and severe anaemia in a 64-year-old female patient.
